Japanese grammar for dummies
1. Japanese has no plurals.
Quick way to remember: All Japanese has the same plural as Sheep.
And yes, there are still some people out there that get to college and still think the plural of Sheep is Sheeps. No, the plural of sheep is sheep. The plural of deer is deer.
So Dear, remember that the plurals in Japanese work like deer.
羊が 一ぴき、羊が二ひき、羊が三びき
hitsuji ga ippiki, hitsuji ga nihiki, hitsuji ga sanbiki
One sheep, two sheep, three sheep.
2. Japanese is an SOV language.
Subject, Object Verb. So Yoda, as one person pu
You won't believe me, but Japanese have no really great way to curse. Yes, there are informal ways of speech that can get you into fights and there are kind of semi-curse words, but the real curse words such as S*** D*** really don't exist.
From this point on it will include curse words. If you are deeply offended--don't read it. =P Though I have no idea why you clicked the link if you are that offended.
Examples:
しまった Shimatta- Darn it. (Anime-only) It does not mean "Shit"
がき also (ガキ) Gaki- brat (It's not bitch)
ばば Baba- Witch, hag might slightl
This is stuff I learned in grade school art class. For some reason I'm seeing a plethora (that means a lot of) people who don't seem to know these terms. Alright, you most likely will think I'm being snotty or even snobby--but I'm not. I'm really, really shocked. I went to an inner city public grade school that was crap when I learned this stuff. There were fights in the cafeteria every single day (my parents didn't care even if I told them about it). The students cared even less about learning, and all you had to say was "Yo Mama!" to get into a fight. AND this school still taught these basic concepts. So I kind of find it sad when people d
Characterization--the Unmary-Sue UnGary-Stu
1. Pick a flaw or a quirk FIRST.
Quirk List:
- A vegetarian that eats chickens because Chickens are stupid and so they don't count.
- An Animal activist that loves animals to death, but ends up loving to eat meat.
- A person that is all anti-prostitute against Johns and ends up with one himself (real one).
- A punk that loves fluffy animals.
- A biker chick that goes crazy over plushies.
Quirks are made up of contrasting traits that you would expect to co-exist together. For example, someone phobic of touch--you wouldn't expect them to fall in love with the upbeat girl that hugs everyone. Qu

Story-Driven is the best
I know, I know people buy the 1980's hype of "Character-driven" v. "Plot-driven" and agents liked the categorization so much that they took it up and ran with it even though critics have long ago abandoned the idea as trash. So I'll translate it for you.
Character-driven really means, "Have a strong and compelling character."
Plot-driven takes a bit more translating. Plot-driven really means, "event-driven" and event driven means that the events are strong.
Historians cleared it up with the idea that people create events which influence humans which create more events in a circular fashion, throw some random crap in there that no one can c

Honor Negative Space--please.
As a designer, I see this a lot: that space is blank, why can't we fill it with something?
I know, I know, people think back to the advertising days of the 1980's when it was chock full of crap--but let me tell you that there has been advancement and they teach psychology along with the marketing--don't do that.
Let's put it into laymen's terms.
If you live in the US, you expect that the door in the front leads to the front hall (or an equivalent). Most likely your kitchen is in the front of the house or in the back. The dining room is next to the kitchen and the living room. There should be a bathroom. The house should be tidy and perhaps
