Obviously not done, but if you follow this animation, you'll be able to see it develop. Then you can see how really hard it is to animate. Maybe you'll learn something. I'll put up the preloader too.

Also known as, I'm completely nuts.

I wanted to originally see how her ponytails and so on would develop over time.

The background took quite a few hours.

Edit: Added a loader screen. It's in actionscript 3.0 and an improved version of another person's script that didn't work. Also the play button script I picked up didn't work, so I fixed it.

And the moon might look slightly different. I mucking around with the scripts for some reason one of the scripts deleted it. Was weird. But I can live with it.

Edit: If you have really, really good eyes you'll see the new update. I won't tell you what it is though.

Edit: You should be able to see the edit better now. ^_^ 15 more to go! I also adjusted the background ground so it's the exact size it should be.

Edit: Minor update. Took 4 hours. You should be able to see it.

Edit: I added a walking sequence and some additional color and one more frame from raster to vector. Plus some basic clean up. This leaves 14 frames left. Uhhgh. And then the walking sequence out. Walking sequences are easy with dresses. You just ripple the bottom of the dress.

Edit: One more frame added, So 13 to go. I also refined some of the colors in the gradients. And added a light to the ground.

Edit: Converted more of the raster to flash native vector.

Edit: added a better banister, finished the last evolution and have three more to convert from raster to go. Banister reference is from the Sailor Moon anime, Super series.

Edit: Added some frames. I'm missing arms and some color in some frames, (yellow on the dress), but it's pretty close to done. =P Took a lot of learning to get here.

Edit: Completed took forever, since it Adobe Flash crashed a lot.

I originally did this version: kinnohitsuji.deviantart.com/ar… which used the method you described. But then I went insane along the way and decided to upgrade it, and then digitize it and then add frills. (Such as Elios on Pegasus...)

=P Animation is difficult, isn't it?

With Illustrator, it should be a little easier to complete.

It's easier to get consistency of shape in illustrator, but easier to animate in flash. I'm slowly updating this animation which kinda shows that. You can tell which were done in illustrator and which were done in flash.

There are more simple animations in the archives too. ^^;; Like the opening to the fan anime...

You need Flash to do this though.

not bad but you should have made a preloader so that it wouldnt lag

Working on it. If you see the earlier animations ( [link] ) you'll see that's the case. The other reason it loads slow is because it's raster in a vector rather than just vectors. Evil stuff, but it takes a while to trace and stabilize a character growing older. It'll take a while to complete.

I'll complete it slowly. I'm not a normal DAer in that I often show the development of my pieces over time so people can learn off of them as I do.

I see then, also the edges are a little messy, you should have made a more accurate trace of the outline for the alpha channels in photoshop. Other than that, you've put a lot of effort into this!

Messy on what? The sign on the preloader is all vector from Illustrator, imported into Flash, put in through a layered symbol, and is now native to Flash. I put a filter on it though... which tends to make it look like I rastered, but the preloader is 100% vector.

The only thing that is raster now is the lousily done figure... which I'm slowly working on tracing.

Yeah, I ment the figure. Its edges are seen because its original background is white, and still some of the white is seen. Btw, the animation looks smooth now :D
preloader boosted i up a little :D

From here on in it's a test to see how much I can keep the character consistent enough as I trace the thing to form. I saw your flash animations. Haha. You didn't do anything this complex yet. *spits* I challenge thee... *joke*

That's really neat! I can't wait to see it finished. I know animation is hard; that's why I leave it people with talent!
